The venue

The Stables is where a small group of donkeys live together in peace and harmony, and where you’ll begin married life should you choose The Donkey Sanctuary for your wedding ceremony.

Licensed for up to 70 guests and available from May - September, our rustic Donkey Barn is elegantly transformed while retaining its original rustic charm, allowing you to fully enjoy the serenity of the sanctuary on your special day.

The sanctuary is also dog-friendly, so we welcome your fur-friends as part of your day – after all they are an important part of your family and shouldn’t miss out.

Real weddings

Thinking of getting married at The Donkey Sanctuary? Don't just take our word for it.

Ricki and Carly, July 2018:

Perfect is a funny word that I rarely use, but without being able to pin point a single thing I would change about my wedding day…I guess The Donkey Sanctuary made our day perfect. Emma, our wedding coordinator made the entire process feel effortless and well organised. On the day we were both full of nerves, but this soon disappeared when we were taken back by the detail and effort the staff put into decorating the venue. Our three dogs also enjoyed the day!

Louise and Arthur, June 2018:

It was important to my partner and I that we celebrated our marriage in an environment that would also enable us to support the work of an animal charity. The Donkey Sanctuary seemed the perfect solution; it was a truly magical experience getting married there. The staff were very helpful, the barn was decorated beautifully (for no extra cost) and the selected canapes were delicious with plenty for everyone. Zippo the donkey brought a smile to everyone’s face as he walked down the aisle. I would recommend the sanctuary for anyone looking for a unique and memorable wedding.

Amy & Stephen, May 2018

When we discovered The Donkey Sanctuary did weddings, we didn’t hesitate on a 500-mile round trip for our special day to support this amazing charity.

Thank you to Emma and the rest of the team for going above and beyond in planning and organising every fine detail to create a personalised wedding for us, whilst also helping to make the day as stress free as possible.

Our guests had a wonderful time and many months later still reminisce about what a fantastic experience it was. Also thank you to Bramble, our donkey guest of honour, who was so well behaved and brought lots of happy memories that we will cherish forever.
